In 1933, Max LE VERRIER sculpted his WALKING LION in a very 1925’s style in front of the cages of the BOUGLIONE circus at the Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris.
One day of July, a lion died and was found four days later in the back of its cage.
With the BOUGLIONE brothers’ agreement, Max LE VERRIER removed the animal’s head before being buried during 6 months near an ant hill. Its skull, jaw and teeth came out from the earth as clean as a brand new penny. Today, it is still on top of a shelf at the workshop, for the eternity…
